I was born in Athens, on the 7th of January, 1953.  They named me Loukas.  I started to draw at a very young age, and loved it.  When I was 14 years old, I was painting the universe with stars and planets on a wooden table in our garden.  I liked it so much, I cut off the legs of the table with a saw and hung it in the garden.

When my mom saw what I did, she got angry and chased me with a broom.  One day, I secretly took a wooden shelf from a closet in our house.  I used it as a canvas to paint an abstract piece on it and sold it for 2,000 drachmas.  That shelf is still missing from the cupboard today!  After that I never painted again, until I turned 59 years old.  I’m not sure why, but I suddenly got the urge to paint again.  Maybe the urge came to fill the gap that I left when I stopped painting, or to leave something behind after I’m gone.
